Sam Mazzu serves as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Carriage Services, overseeing the company’s legal function and providing counsel across the organization. He joined Carriage in 2019 and has taken on increasing responsibility since, moving through several legal leadership roles before stepping into the General Counsel position.
Before Carriage, Sam spent over twelve years at Marathon Oil Corporation, where he built a deep foundation in corporate and finance law that informs how he approaches the complexity of a growing, publicly traded company. His tenure at Carriage gives him an understanding of the business that goes beyond the legal function. He understands how Carriage operates and what it takes to support growth responsibly.
Sam holds a B.B.A. in Finance and International Business from Baylor University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
